Caught in the Middle: How and When Psychological Contract Breach by Subordinates Relates to Weekly Emotional Exhaustion of Supervisors

In psychological contract research, the side of supervisor is strongly underexposed. However, supervisors are responsible for maintaining relationships with both their subordinates and senior management likely to be influenced by events unfolding in these relationships. this study, we state that well-being may affected who fail meet obligations. This study adds research developing an understanding how when subordinate breach (PCB) associated emotional exhaustion. Through a weekly diary survey among 56 Dutch supervisors, test hypotheses about between PCB exhaustion supervisor, mediating role perceptions performance pressure relationship, moderating i-deals management. Multilevel analyses support first two hypotheses, but contradictory our expectations show positive association strengthened has high levels We discuss findings relation contribution theory.
